It would be a great surprise indeed to Schubert to find that his "Ellens dritter Gesang" (as composed for a lyric in German based on the English poetry of Sir Walter Scott from his 1810 work "The Lady of the Lake") had become a standard, not of British mythology, but of the Roman Catholic Church! Whoever had the idea to keep the music but ditch the words in favor of a Latin lyric based on a passage from the first chapter of the Gospel of St Luke was a marketing genius, that's for sure. I have no clue what the lady is singing here (I don't speak German, besides ""Zwei glase!") but this is a nice rendition.
